The AI build-out runs on bonds. Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, sold $264bn in bonds this past year. The US Treasury estimates it needs $618bn from the same market by December. That market needs liquidity to keep rolling.

The US Treasury buys back its bonds to keep the market liquid. Long-end buybacks doubled in September. Strategy does the same with STRC, buying back over $2bn below par. Any issuer that wants its paper widely held ends up fighting volatility.
